College of the Mainland in Texas City is a comprehensive accredited community college offering certificates and associate degrees in 48 degree fields. Fall 2017 enrollment reached 4,333. Most popular programs included General Studies, Petrochemical Process Tech, Fire Academy, Nursing, Cosmetology, Occupational Safety and Health, Medical Assisting, Business and Criminal Justice.
The college serves the residents of Dickinson, Hitchcock, La Marque, Texas City, and Santa Fe. While not within the college’s tax-paying district, the college provides higher educational opportunities to residents of League City, Friendswood and Kemah, as well.
Ready to Transfer
COM academic courses transfer to public universities throughout Texas. Students may complete an associate degree in small classes at a fraction of the cost of a university. In-district tuition and fees for 12 semester hours are $747. Out-of-district tuition and fees for the same hours are $1,227.
Ready to Work
COM prepares students for the workforce quickly with programs in welding, process technology, mechanical maintenance, drafting, business, and many other technical/vocational areas.
Re-careering students may be eligible for financial assistance through a DOL H-1B Gulf Coast Ready to Work Grant covering tuition and career services. Students may choose from programs that include electrical, instrumentation, mechanical maintenance, welding, process technology, drafting, project management or Lean Six Sigma courses.
